Captive bred marine fishes only?

January 31st, 2007
Although it would be nice if all the species of marine fishes suitable for aquaria were captive bred there are a number of wild caught species that do well .....
those that come to mind are:
coral beauty, yellow tang, henichus butterfly, yellow coris wrasse, lunare wrasse, bluehead wrasse, almost all damsels, many triggers, many puffers, snowflake eel, all scats, all mono's, groupers, foxface, hippo tang, basslets
so as you see there's plenty of choices ...... for the sake of the ecology, conservation & preservation of nature ... limit what you can buy to what you plan to keep alive for 10 years or more .... stay away from large specimens which should be left to reproduce in nature ..... most oddball stuff that's expensive ... will not live in an aquarium beyond a few weeks or months ... don't be a consumer be a conserver ....

Introduction

May 16th, 2006
Marine Fish Monthly is about Aquariums and the essential role they play by imparting knowledge and awareness about the ecology, environment & conservation of our watery planet. Aquariums are a feable attempt to encapsule Ocean Life within four transparent walls .. and though failing to accomplish that goal ... are enormously educational, spiritually uplifting and enlighten our children and ourselves on the complexities and critical importance of nature to the survival of mankind on our planet. This publication will not be contrained to the life on a coral reef .... nor will it exclude freshwater biotopes .... water is the bridge to all life within us and without us ....
